The languages of the modern workplace. We derived them from our reading of 58,802 UK roles. Each is a domain the market appears to be converging on. Nearly half of it is about AI directly. That is why we split that signal into distinct Fluencies rather than one bucket.

Nearly half of it is AI.

AI Fluency, AI Governance Fluency, Automation Fluency and the AI-driven half of Foresight together account for roughly 45% of every emerging skill in our corpus. That is the single biggest finding. It is why splitting "AI" into distinct Fluencies, rather than one bucket, is the product. The structure inside that 45% is what a workforce actually needs to learn.

The ten, defined

AI Fluency · ~17%

Working with AI: prompting, LLM integration, human-AI collaboration, and knowing what AI can and cannot do.

Data Fluency · ~17%

Communicating with data: analytics and interpretation, and above all data storytelling that moves an audience.

AI Governance Fluency · ~16%

Deploying AI responsibly: ethics, accountability, bias mitigation and explainability. Those frameworks keep automated decisions fair and auditable.

Automation Fluency · ~11%

Engineering AI into operations: orchestration, hyperautomation, AIOps/MLOps and predictive operations. Not using AI. Building it in.

Sustainability Fluency · ~9%

Building ESG into the work: reporting and assurance, circular economy, nature-positive strategy and sustainable operations.

Frontier Fluency · ~5%

The next wave beyond mainstream AI: quantum, digital twins, web3/metaverse and immersive/spatial experiences.

Foresight Fluency · ~3%

Anticipating what has not happened yet: strategic foresight, scenario planning, geopolitical and climate risk modelling.

Change Fluency · ~3%

Taking people and organisations through change: transformation leadership, ecosystem orchestration and adoption.

Systems Fluency · ~1.5%

Reasoning about interconnected, non-linear systems. That includes checking AI's own output for hallucination and bias.

Trust Fluency · ~1.9%

Protecting the digital estate: cybersecurity, threat intelligence, zero-trust and quantum-safe cryptography.

The ten-Fluency taxonomy is Zavmo's own analysis, pending validation against live market signal. With a learner it is always framed as "the market appears to be converging on…". Never "the market needs."

A living map, not a fixed decree.

The Fluencies are a hypothesis worth betting a product's direction on. They are a coherent signal from a large corpus. We validate them against real market signal as the world moves. That honesty is the point: the map updates as the market does.
